Bolling Endorsed by Virginia Credit Union League
Calls Bolling 'an exemplary leader'; cites Bolling economic and jobs creation plan as solid strategy for a turnaround and long-term prosperity. Credit Union League follows endorsements from Virginia Realtors PAC and the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation.
Richmond - Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling today announced the endorsement of his re-election campaign by The Virginia Credit Union League, a trade association representing the Commonwealth's 194 not-for-profit credit unions and the 3 million credit union member-owners residing in Virginia.
In recent weeks Bolling also received endorsements from the Virginia Association of Realtors PAC and the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation PAC.
The endorsement comes following a review by the League Board and its Governmental Affairs Committee of Bolling's policy positions, campaign platform and voting record.
"I am honored to receive the endorsement of the Virginia Credit Union League," said Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling. "Virginia families and businesses are hurting and this election is about growing our economy and creating jobs. I am pleased that the Virginia Credit Union League recognizes that I have a comprehensive and detailed plan to position Virginia's economy for future economic growth and create jobs Virginians need. I look forward to working with them over the next four years to reach these goals."
"Bill Bolling has been a long-time friend of credit unions and has made an extraordinary effort to get to know credit unions and to better understand our issues," said Virginia Credit Union League President Rick Pillow. "From his years of service in the Virginia Senate to his service as Lieutenant Governor, we know Bill Bolling to be an exemplary leader and we proudly endorse him."
As a member of the Virginia Senate, Bolling supported credit unions on key votes to maintain parity between Virginia's state-chartered credit unions and their federally chartered counterparts, including a vote in 1999 that allowed state-chartered credit unions to expand their membership, providing Virginians with greater choice in banking.
He has also been supportive of Virginia credit unions' financial literacy initiatives, particularly in teaching young people personal finance basics, such as budgeting and the wise use of credit.
With the economic downturn continuing to drag on Virginians and their household finances, the economic and jobs creation plan offered by Lieutenant Governor Bolling and Republican gubernatorial candidate Bob McDonnell provides Virginia with a solid strategy for a turnaround and long-term prosperity, noted Pillow.
"Although Virginia's credit unions have weathered the economic downturn and continue to lend, credit unions look forward to working with Bill Bolling to strengthen our economy and create new jobs," said Pillow.
