Reports $983,239 Cash on Hand at end of year
Richmond – Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling today announced that his gubernatorial campaign committee, Friends of Bill Bolling, received over $1,098,237 in contributions in 2011, including $555,538 during the most recent six month fundraising period. In reports filed with the State Board of Elections, Bolling reported receiving a total of 1659 individual contributions in 2011, with 821 of those contributions occurring within the last six months.
Of the $555,538 raised during the period, Bolling reported receiving over $402,811 between December 1st and December 31st. Since the current fundraising reporting period ended on December 31st, Bolling has raised an additional $56,285, which puts his current total cash on hand at over $1,000,000.
Lieutenant Governor Bolling said, “I am extremely pleased by the financial support that more than a thousand donors provided to my campaign in 2011. I am especially pleased by the ground swell of support I have received since my opponent announced his campaign for Governor on December 1st. We raised more money during the last month of 2011 than we have during any similar fundraising period.”
Lieutenant Governor Bolling added, “I am also most appreciative of the enthusiastic support I have received from Virginia’s business leaders. It is clear that Virginia’s business community is lining up in strong support of my campaign. Business leaders support my efforts to provide responsible leadership for Virginia that focuses on finding solutions to the challenges facing our state. This is the type of leadership I have provided throughout my service in state government. I will continue to provide this type of results oriented leadership as Virginia’s next Governor.”
Bolling’s $555,538 in contributions during the last six months of 2011 is the most he has raised during any non-election year fundraising period. In addition, Bolling’s $983,239 cash on hand total is nearly $400,000, or 40%, more than then-Attorney General McDonnell had at the same point in the 2009 cycle.
