Lt. Gov. Bolling to visit region on Aug. 18

On August 18, Lt. Governor Bill Boling will visit the Emporia Greensville area. "As Virginia's Chief Jobs Creation Officer Lt. Governor Bolling will visit the Mega Site project meeting with representatives from City of Emporia. Greensville County, Jarratt and IDC" said Jack Davenport, Executive Director of the Industrial Development Corporation.

"Working with the Executive Director of the Emporia Greensville Chamber of Commerce, Bill Hodge" Davenport went on to say, "Lt. Governor Bolling will attend the Chamber's monthly luncheon accompanied by Senator Frank Ruff, Chairman of the Virginia Rural Center." "We are looking forward to having the Lt. Governor, his staff and Sen. Ruff as our guest," said Hodge, "We are moving our regular luncheon date from the 19th to the 18th and are very excited to hear what he has to say and field some questions." Hodge said, "We only have room for about 60-70 people at Southern Virginia Regional Medical Center, so our Chamber Members need to call in early with their reservation, come early by 11:30 and plan to stay at least to 1:15pm."

On November 3, 2009, Bill Bolling was re-elected to a second four year term as Lieutenant Governor. Running with Governor Bob McDonnell, the two Republicans ran a positive, issues oriented campaign that offered New Ideas For A Better Virginia. Bolling won an impressive victory, claiming 57 percent of the popular vote.

During his second term as Lieutenant Governor, Bolling's focus will be on getting Virginia's economy moving again and creating jobs. Governor McDonnell has asked Lieutenant Governor Bolling to serve as Virginia's Chief Jobs Creation Officer and made him a member of the Governor's cabinet. As Chief Jobs Creation Officer, Lieutenant Governor Bolling is responsible for coordinating the state's economic development programs across numerous state agencies, and working with business leaders to identify ways to improve the state's economy. Lieutenant Governor Bolling is also responsible for shepherding the Governor's economic development initiatives through the General Assembly, and assisting economic development officials in recruiting new business and industry to Virginia.

Lieutenant Governor Bolling has been married to his wife. Jean Ann, for 32 years. The Bolling's have two sons, Matt and Kevin, and they live in Mechanicsville in Hanover County. Professionally, Lieutenant Governor Boiling is employed as a Vice President with Riggs. Counselman, Michaels and Downes, one of the nation's largest independent insurance agencies.
