Lieutenant Governor Bolling announces Inaugural events
Bolling to sponsor free Inaugural event for key supporters on January 14, 2010
RICHMOND - In what may be a political first, Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling today announced that he will sponsor a free Inaugural Celebration in Richmond on January 14, 2010.
Historically, Inaugural events have been used as fundraisers for statewide officials, but Bolling has decided to invite his key political supporters from across the state to join him for his 2010 Inaugural event at no charge. However, the event is by invitation only.
"The Inaugural Celebration is a chance to thank the people who have helped make my political success possible," said Lieutenant Governor Bolling. "Because this is an appreciation event, and given the economic challenges facing so many Virginians, we decided to make it a free event. It gives us a chance to celebrate our victory with as many of our friends and supporters as possible."
Invited attendees will join the Lieutenant Governor and Mrs. Bolling as their guests for the Celebration, which will be held in the Thalhimer Pavilion at the Science Museum of Virginia in Richmond. The Bolling Inaugural Committee will solicit sponsorships to defray costs of the event. Any surplus Inaugural funds will be donated to a Virginia charity.
Bolling's office has also announced that the theme of his 2010 Inaugural Celebration will be Restoring Virginia's Promise.
"We face a number of very serious challenges in our state today. The responsibility of our administration will be to find solutions to these challenges and help restore Virginia's promise," said Lieutenant Governor Bolling. "It just seems like a perfect theme for what we need to do right now."
In addition to the Inaugural Celebration on January 14th, Bolling will co-host a reenactment of Patrick Henry's famous speech - Give Me Liberty Or Give Me Death - with Governor-elect Bob McDonnell at historic St. John's Church on January 15th.
