Daily Press Endorses Bolling for Lieutenant Governor

Praises Bolling's "pragmatic spirit"; Cites "winning combination" with McDonnell

Bolling for Lieutenant Governor

October 28, 2009

RICHMOND - Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling today was endorsed by the Daily Press.

The Daily Press becomes the most recent paper to endorse Bolling's campaign for re-election, joining the Lynchburg News & Advance, Richmond Times-Dispatch, Farmville Herald, Bristol Herald Courier, Waynesboro News Virginian, Culpeper Star-Exponent, Fredericksburg Free-Lance Star, News and Messenger and Arlington Sun-Gazette.

The paper endorsed Bolling as a "good choice for a second term in the job". They also highlighted Bolling's "pragmatic spirit" and cited the "winning combination" of Bolling and McDonnell:

"In part, that's because he has chosen the tack of the man he wants to serve with, Bob McDonnell, aligning his politics with the more moderate segment of his party and the electorate. Bolling speaks the language of fiscal restraint and limited government, and has distanced himself from the days when he paired anti-tax rhetoric with extravagant promises of new or improved state services. And, though he remains against abortion, against gay marriage and against any limitation on gun rights, he has not made those social issues a centerpiece in this campaign. He should stay true to that pragmatic spirit if he is elected ..."
