Farmville Herald Endorses Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling

Praises Bolling's work on economic development and health initiatives; performance as Lieutenant Governor

Bolling for Lieutenant Governor

October 27, 2009

RICHMOND - Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling today was endorsed by the Farmville Herald.

The Farmville Herald becomes the most recent paper to endorse Bolling's campaign for re-election, joining Bristol Herald Courier, Waynesboro News Virginian, Culpeper Star-Exponent, Fredericksburg Free-Lance Star, News and Messenger and Arlington Sun-Gazette.

The paper highlighted several reasons why Bolling deserves to remain Lieutenant Governor:

"Republican Bill Bolling has done nothing to merit losing his job as Lieutenant Governor and, equally important, Jody Wagner, the Democrat, hasn't done enough to convince us that Mr. Bolling should be fired and that she deserves to take his place a heartbeat away from becoming governor. Indeed, Mr. Bolling has used his position in Virginia's number two slot to work for economic development and on behalf of health initiatives in the commonwealth, in addition to performing his constitutional duties in the Senate. Two absolutely worthwhile causes to promote with advocacy from the office of Lieutenant Governor.

Ms. Wagner was Secretary of Finance under Gov. Kaine, but that seems an insufficient resume, in this particular case, when compared with Mr. Bolling's background of public service. Ms. Wagner, for example, has never held elective office, while Mr. Bolling is a former Board of Supervisor's member and served in the state senate for 10 years, which makes him better qualified to step in and serve as governor, were that constitutional duty required. Let us hope that never happens during either a Deeds or McDonnell administration, but Mr. Bolling, who had no difficulties serving with a Democratic governor and has a visible bipartisan streak, is clearly the better qualified of the two candidates to serve as either Lieutenant Governor or Governor of Virginia."

The Farmville Herald endorsed Creigh Deeds for Governor last week.

The endorsement will be available online this evening at www.farmvilleherald.com.
