Bolling Receives Endorsement of Associated Builders and Contractors

Pro-Business Association Becomes the Latest Group to Endorse Bolling

Bolling for Lieutenant Governor

October 06, 2009

RICHMOND - Lieutenant Governor Bill Bolling today announced that his re-election campaign has received the endorsement of the Virginia Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors.  The Virginia Chapter of Associated Builders and Contractors, Inc. (ABC-VA) is a statewide, pro-business association of more than 600 construction and construction-related companies across Virginia. ABC-VA is the only association in the Commonwealth that is dedicated to serving the interest of merit shop contractors, and is a leading provider of education, political advocacy, networking and service to the commercial construction industry.

Bolling said, "I am pleased to receive the endorsement of Associated Builders and Contractors.  Their support is a reflection of efforts to make certain that Virginia remains a great place in which to do business.  I have made job creation the central theme of my re-election campaign, and I have put forth an aggressive agenda to help accomplish that goal.  I look forward to working with the Associated Builders and Contractors and other business groups to get our economy moving again and create the jobs Virginia's families desperately need to protect their financial security."

Patrick Dean, President of the Virginia Chapter of Associated Builders & Contractors, stated, "Throughout his dedicated time in public service, Bill Bolling has demonstrated a firm commitment to fiscal responsibility, free enterprise and the establishment of a statutory and regulatory environment that spurs job creation and enhances economic opportunity.  We are proud to endorse his candidacy."

Associated Builders and Contractors is the latest business group to endorse Bolling, joining the National Federation of Independent Business/ Virginia, the Virginia Association of Realtors PAC, the Virginia Farm Bureau Federation AgPAC and the Virginia Credit Union League.  Bolling was also recently endorsed by the Arlington Sun-Gazette, Fraternal Order of Police, Police Benevolent Association and the National Rifle Association - PVF.

In a McDonnell/Bolling administration, Bolling will serve as Virginia's Chief Jobs Creation Officer.  He has put forth a detailed Jobs for Virginians program that is designed to get Virginia's economy moving again and create jobs.  By providing tax credits to businesses creating jobs in Virginia, by reducing the regulatory burden on businesses and by investing in proven economic development and job creation programs, we will position Virginia now for a future economic recovery.

By contrast, Bolling's opponent, Jody Wagner, has a record of supporting tax increases and other policies that will kill jobs and drive our economy deeper into recession. Wagner has supported every major tax increase proposed over the past 8 years.  She is also closely aligned with liberal national labor unions, having received nearly $100,000 in campaign contributions from unions.  Earlier this year, Wagner supported a union picket line against Hilton Hotels at the same time that Virginia officials were recruiting Hilton's national headquarters to Virginia.
