For the past 18 years, Bill Bolling has served the people of Virginia with distinction in state and local government. Bill has proven himself to be a dynamic and effective leader, and he has repeatedly won the respect and support of voters.
Hanover County Board of Supervisors (1992-1995)
While serving in local government Bill distinguished himself as a fiscal conservative who worked to direct Hanover County’s resources to the things that mattered most – education, public safety and economic development – while keeping taxes low on Hanover families.
While serving in local government Bill also served in a number of important leadership positions in the metro Richmond region, including Chairman of the Hanover County Board of Supervisors, the Metropolitan Economic Development Council, the Greater Richmond Economic Development Partnership and the Richmond Regional Crime Commission.
Senate of Virginia (1996-2005)
While serving in the Senate Bill continued the effort to keep government small and focused on its core responsibilities. He also opposed every effort by Governors Warner and Kaine to raise taxes in Virginia. During his service in the General Assembly, Bill Bolling also emerged as one of Virginia’s leading voices on health care and protecting the environment. Bill also held a number of important leadership positions in the Senate, including Chairman of the Joint Republican Caucus, the Virginia Republican Senatorial Committee, the Conservative Caucus, the Joint Commission on Health Care, the Commission on the Future of Virginia’s Environment, Senate’s Subcommittee on Health Care and the Chesapeake Bay Commission
Lieutenant Governor of Virginia (2006-2009)
As our Lieutenant Governor, Bill has worked on a bi-partisan basis to get things done in Richmond. He has worked with Governor Kaine on a number of important issues, including coal mine safety, bipartisan redistricting and a number of important health care programs. Bill has also pursued an aggressive legislative agenda that promoted realistic and workable solutions to the challenges facing Virginia. As Lieutenant Governor, Bill’s peers from across the country have also recognized his leadership capabilities, and they have trusted him to serve as Chairman of the Republican Lieutenant Governor’s Association and Vice Chairman and Treasurer of the National Lieutenant Governor’s Association.
